First review! -Nihonjin no chotto henna eigo-

Hi! I'm Daiki. I'll post reviews of various things on this blog. For example, movies, comics, restaurants...etc

My first review is a comic-book review! The comic title is 「Nihon-jin no chotto henna eigo (In English, A little bit strange  Japanese English)」. This book was published in 2012 by Asukomu  Corporation. I bought this book during this summer vacation. When I went to the bookstore, I happened to find it and I was interested in the title, I thought "I may also make strange mistakens  in English. I need to improve my English knowledge!!" so I decided to buy it.

This comic's author and main character is David Sain. He has taught English to many Japanese people in Japan for over 25 years. He has published other books about English, so you may have some of his books. This comic introduces many mistakes in  English made by Japanese people who are studying English in his English schools as well as other mistakes in English that he found in Japan. Apart from these stories, he also shows how native speakers react to these mistakes. I realized how many mistakes in English I made.

I think many Japanese people need to read this book and improve their knowledge of common mistakes. Actually, I improved my knowledge and I got new insight. This book is not serious and not too long, but it's really good for Japanese people especially those who are studying English. It's also easy to read for people who are not good at English. This book sometimes introduces aspects of Japanese culture that David noticed "It's difficult! It's strange! It's funny!" and more. For example, Japanese people can slurp soba and other noodles, but he can't do this well, so he feels "It's difficult for foreigners!!". These stories are also interesting.

I'm happy if you become interested in this book. Thanks for reading!
